10 Life Hacks for Dog Owners
Being a dog owner comes with lots of wet kisses, sweet cuddles, and a friend whenever you need one. But it also comes with lots of responsibilities: walks, vet visits, training, cleaning up after them. So when it comes to your busy life, we want to help make your life as a dog owner a little easier. Here are 10 life hacks you can use to make pet care a little easier.
1. Store dog food in a resealable container
This means less lugging around a huge bag of dog food and spilling it all over the floor. Bonus points for getting a scoop or measuring cup to make it even easier.
2. Put a tennis ball or a kong in your dog’s dish
If your dog is a speed eater, put a ball in his bowl to slow him down. It also gives your dog’s brain a little exercise, too.
3. Re-hydrate your sick dog with chicken stock
If your dog is sick, can’t keep any food down, or won’t drink water, try adding low-sodium chicken broth to their bowl.
4. Remove pet hair with a squeegee
If there’s pet hair all over your bed, couch, or clothes, you can rub a squeegee or a rubber kitchen glove over the hair to pick it up.
5. Use baking soda on pee stains
If your dog pees on the carpet, sprinkle baking soda on top of it to soak up the moisture and the smell, and then vacuum it up. Make sure to keep your dog away from the baking soda while it’s still on the rug.
6. Keep your dog cool on hot days
Prep some cold treats for hot days by adding diced apple and chicken stock to ice cube trays. Freeze it to give to your dog when it’s scorching outside. Or pour water, treats, and toys into a cake mold and freeze it to make an ice lick.
7. Microwave your older dog’s food
If your dog is getting older or is missing some teeth, pour some water on their food and microwave it for 20-30 to soften it up and make it easier to eat.
8. Attach a carabiner to your dog’s leash
When you tie them up outside, just wrap the leash around a pole and attach the carabiner to the leash.
9. Instead of buying Kong stuffing…
…fill the kong with some peanut butter, or fill it with some cubes of cheese and microwave it for 5-10 seconds. The melted cheese will stick to the inside of the kong and keep your dog busy.
10. If your dog has bad breath
Put some parsley in their food, or put some enzymatic toothpaste on a rope toy to freshen their breath.
