How Healthy Is My Dog?

June 30th, 2015

Your Dog’s Fur

When your dog is given the right nutrition to keep him healthy, his coat will reflect that. Signs that your dog is not getting enough nutrients include a dull or fragile coat or balding and patchy spots.

Fleas and Ticks

Fleas and ticks not only make your dog itchy and uncomfortable, but they can lead to infections and disease. Keep your dog’s coat clean and brushed, and apply regular flea and tick treatment.

Your Dog’s Smell

In between baths, your dog’s coat should still smell fresh. If your dog smells musky, strong, or stinky, that’s an indication of bacterial infection, fungus, fleas, or even dry skin. If your dog’s coat still smells after a bath, that may be an indication that it’s time for a trip to the vet.

Keeping an eye out for these 3 things can help you catch and prevent any decline in your dog’s health so he can stay happy and healthy for a long time!
