Most Frequently Asked Dog Questions
You may find yourself wondering if your questions about your dog are normal, so we’re here to share with you some of the most frequently asked dog questions:
1. Are bones safe for dogs?
Generally, no. If you want to give your dog a bone, make it a Milk Bone. Cooked bones are especially bad, as they can cause cracked teeth, mouth injuries, airway obstruction, and gastrointestinal problems.
2. Should I allow my dog on the bed or the couch?
You should treat the bed and the couch like a reward. If you do decide that’s an okay place for your dog to be, make sure you’re the one in control of when they’re allowed to be there. Reward your dog with a snuggle in bed after they’ve behaved themselves all day, or done something you’ve asked.
3. How hot is too hot for my dog?
If you’re leaving your dog at home when you go to work and it’s a scorcher out there, make sure you leave your dog plenty of water, and some circulating air, either with the AC, a fan, or open windows. Generally, dogs can be relatively comfortable up to 90 degrees, however there is no hard and fast rule. You can also help your dog cool off by giving him frozen dog treats or going for a swim in a kiddie pool or a local creek.
4. What kind of “people food” can I give my dog as a snack?
Broccoli, sweet potatoes, zucchini, apples (with the seeds removed), carrots and cucumbers all make tasty and refreshing (and safe!) snacks for your dog.
